The Highest Synthesis

… “In India we do not recognise the nation as the highest synthesis to which we can rise. There is a higher synthesis, humanity; beyond that there is a still higher synthesis, this living, suffering, aspiring world of creatures, the synthesis of Buddhism; there is a highest of all, the synthesis of God, and that is the Hindu synthesis, the synthesis of Vedanta. With us today Nationalism is our immediate practical faith and gospel not because it is the highest possible synthesis, but because it must be realised in life if we are to have the chance of realising the others. We must live as a nation before we can live in humanity. It is for this reason that Nationalist thinkers have always urged the necessity of realising our separateness from other nations and living to ourselves for the present, not in order to shut out humanity, but that we may get that individual strength, unity and wholeness which will help us to live as a nation for humanity. A man must be strong and free in himself before he can live usefully for others, so must a nation. But that does not justify us in forgetting the ultimate aim of evolution. God in the nation becomes the realisation of the first moment to us because the nation is the chosen means or condition through which we rise to the higher syntheses. God in humanity. God in all creatures, God in Himself and ourself.”

– Sri Aurobindo

Thank you for your understanding.

Catalan people are, as a rule, people with a global thought . As a rule, as I've said, we are talking about one folk that lives opened to the world. But we need be as a nation, we need to realize our colective soul...

But we have a problem called Spain and its castilian vision. We are called by them "primitive people" and "people who wants speak a minority language".

But, perhaps, we will be a free nation...into a big world. One day, I hope.

According to Sri Aurobindo, there is no question of merging in the universal consciousness or in the absolute Consciousness beyond the Universe, because the Individual is as much an aspect of the Supreme, as is the Universal and the Transcendental. There is no need of a Moksha, as the Goal is to manifest as a Supramental Being, here on earth. Each of the Aspirants should have that as the Goal and the Task. If one returns back to the Transcendental or the Universal, then one cannot march ahead to become the Supramental Being.

Similarly, nationality is a truth, though it can not be the highest Truth. The nation has to exist and be a befitting part of the total humanity.

Domination by those who are stronger, physically or financially or politically, will definitely come to an end, when the presence of the Supramental Consciousness will become more and more evident.

Thank you Jordi Valero, thank you Lalit Kumar!

I totaly agree with you.
Before merging in the universal consciousness....first one must become an individual and it is the true for a nation also. My sympathy goes with the Catalan people and their Nation...
Courage and one day you will have it....

That is a great true. The trees must have a deep roots before they be able search the light of the sun.

Nationalism is not a out of time idea, a ridiculous vision...at least yet. the future of humanity will see the brotherhood among human beings and the disappearance of nations, but not yet. This will be tomorrow, not today.

I belong to Catalan Nation. It is a nation that fight to become a reality among the free nations around the world.
