Into the New Body

The Mother, Mira Alfassa, walked into the New Body on the 17th day of November 1973. She left Her physical body and walked and entered into the then newly formed Supramental Body. The World knew and told that She has passed away. It is said that The Mother withdrew Herself on the 17th day of November in 1973. However, we will see that in reality, in the highest meaning and sense of the term ‘reality’, The Mother continues eternally — in a NEW BODY. She wanted to walk into Her new supramental bo… Continue

Sri Aurobindo and Avatarhood 1

Sri Aurobindo was the last Avatar in a human body. That is what The Mother has said. She has also said that Sri Aurobindo would return, but NOT in a human body — NOT in a body born as a human being or of a human being. And His return may even be as late as five hundred years from his departure. I have said earlier also that according to The Mother, Sri Aurobindo was an emanation of the Supreme. He was / is an Avatar of The Supreme. He came to transcend the Overmind consciousness and to cause t… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 24

24. When I pine at misfortune and call it evil, or am jealous and disappointed, then I know that there is awake in me again the eternal fool. [Sri Aurobindo: Thoughts and Aphorisms] When the consequence of some of our actions is not as expected, or when there is some setback, we consider it to be a misfortune. And also we call it an evil. Further, often, as a reaction of the said misfortune, we find in ourselves jealousy and misfortune. When our interest is not felt or fulfilled, there… Continue

Sri Aurobindo and Mahatma Gandhi

Sri Aurobindo on Gandhi Sri Aurobindo expressed his views on Mahatma Gandhi mainly to his disciples. And some events do express their mutual understanding of each other. Quoted below are some of the sayings of Sri Aurobindo on the Mahatma. July 23, 1923 A disciple: The Mahatma believes that non-violence purifies the man who practices it. I believe Gandhi does not know what actually happens to the man’s nature when he takes to Satyagraha or non-violence. He thinks that me… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 21-22-23

21. Forgiveness is praised by the Christian and the Vaishnava, but for me, I ask, "What have I to forgive and whom ?" 22. God struck me with a human hand; shall I say then, "I pardon Thee thy insolence, O God" ? 23. God gave me good in a blow. Shall I say, "I forgive thee, O Almighty One, the harm and the cruelty, but do it not again" ? [Sri Aurobindo: Thoughts and Aphorisms] Forgiveness is a great virtue, it has been said. However, when there is the Supreme Realization, one has the iden… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 19-20

19. When I had the dividing reason, I shrank from many things; after I had lost it in sight, I hunted through the world for the ugly and the repellent, but I could no longer find them. 20. God had opened my eyes; for I saw the nobility of the vulgar, the attractiveness of the repellent, the perfection of the maimed and the beauty of the hideous. In the normal human consciousness, reason is mainly analytical. It divides, creating ‘opposites’ : good and bad, virtue and sin, beautiful and… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 18

18. Chance is not in this universe; the idea of illusion is itself an illusion. There was never illusion yet in the human mind that was not the concealing and disfigurement of a truth. [Sri Aurobindo: Thoughts and Aphorisms] There is nothing in this Universe which may be described as a “Chance”. And this Universe also is not a Chance There is no illusion — the idea of illusion is itself an illusion. According to Sri Aurobindo, this is the Truth. In the Truth and Reality of Things… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 17

Thoughts and Aphorisms 17 17. Someone was laying it down that God must be this or that or He would not be God. But it seemed to me that I can only know what God is and I do not see how I can tell Him what He ought to be. For what is the standard by which we can judge Him ? These judgments are the follies of our egoism. [Sri Aurobindo: Thoughts and Aphorisms] God IS. He is the Pure Existence, the Pure Consciousness, along with His Supreme Creative Force, and He is also the Pure Bliss and… Continue

Removal of obscene links

ASPIRATION is a spiritual network. And almost all the members here have in them a highly spiritual outlook and aspiration and devotion towards the Divine and the Divine Life. Obscene links have no place here at all. It has been brought to my notice that some of the members have in their profile some obscene links. I have verified them. I want that the links should be deleted as soon as possible. If there is delay, I will be compelled to take some drastic steps. Besides links to o… Continue

From Arhata Osho : Beyond 'God'

August 27, 2009 There is no God as it’s perceived by people. It’s a lie that is for those who won’t take the time to empty false information and utilize all senses to see what is beyond this ‘fiction’ that is infinitely more exciting! ‘Atheist and God thumpers’ are both paddling upstream in the ‘boat of illusion’ with leaking holes. There is a wonderful story about a guru and his cranky disciple that Deepak Chopra has related many times. Both are getting on in their years, and they are sitting… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 16

16. Do not, like so many modern disputants, smother thought under polysyllables or charm inquiry to sleep by the spell of formulas and cant words. Search always; find out the reason for things which seem to the hasty glance to be mere chance or illusion. [Sri Aurobindo: Thoughts and Aphorisms] Many intellectuals, in the present days of Philosophy and Science and thinking, have covered thought within one or two or a few words, consisting a few syllables. And the covering has been such tha… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 15

15. That which men term a hallucination is the reflection in the mind and senses of that which is beyond our ordinary mental & sensory perceptions. Superstition arises from the mind's wrong understanding of these reflections. There is no other hallucination. [Thoughts ad Aphorisms, Sri Aurobindo] That which is beyond “ordinary mental & sensory perceptions,” when reflected in the mind and the senses, the reflection is termed by the people a “hallucination,” meaning a false illusio… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 13-14

13. They told me, "These things are hallucinations." I inquired what was a hallucination and found that it meant a subjective or a psychical experience which corresponds to no objective or no physical reality. Then I sat and wondered at the miracles of the human reason. 14. Hallucination is the term of Science for those irregular glimpses we still have of truths shut out from us by our preoccupation with matter; coincidence for the curious touches of artistry in the work of that supreme and uContinue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 12

12. They proved to me by convincing reasons that God did not exist, and I believed them. Afterwards I saw God, for He came and embraced me. And now which am I to believe, the reasonings of others or my own experience ? Thoughts and Aphorisms [Sri Aurobindo] In the history of human thinking, reason has sometimes tried to prove the non-existence of God. And that is what Sri Aurobindo has referred to in this Aphorism. As we know some schools of thinkers have tried to lead us to concl… Continue

On Thoughts and Aphorisms 11

11. Immortality is not the survival of the mental personality after death, though that also is true, but the waking possession of the unborn and deathless Self of which body is only an instrument and a shadow. (Thoughts and Aphorisms: Sri Aurobindo) The human being has a body and a vital being, to be mastered and governed by a mental being. The vital being animates the physical being, and is the source of all passions and emotions and sentiments. But the mental being is able to fully con… Continue

The Supramental 3

We have seen that according to Sri Aurobindo, the higher hemisphere of existence begins with Supermind, but one has to go across several mental worlds, which are clearly above the ordinary mind, where we generally dwell and which we believe to be the Mind. These are, as seen earlier, the levels of the Higher Mind, the Illumined Mind, the Intuitive Mind or Intuition, and Overmind, in an ascending order. And the supramental plane is beyond all these planes. The Higher Mind is the first of… Continue
