Here, we are in the elements of poetry par excellence !
Sri Aurobindo was as he himself says, basically a poet and Yogi.
Amal once told me that poetry wise Ilion was equal to Savitri. He added, of course spiritually, Savitri is a different matter.
I must have studied this epic-poem no less than 8 to 9 times, and every time with such passion and poetic appreciation, that I am never tired reading once more this poem in classical hexametre :
-uu -uu -uu -uu -uu -- , six feet of dactyl ie, -uu (l…

PARIS AND TLEMCEN
(1905-12)
The Mother's high inner realization and spiritual radiance oon attracted towards her many seekers. In 1906 a small group was formed under her guidance, which was named Idea.They met regularly on Wednesday evenings at her house, first 1 rue Lemercier, later in rue des Levis an…

''One can see, when one studies oneself very attentively.... For example, if you observe yourself, you see that one day you are very generous - let us take this, it is easy to understand - very generous: generous in your feelings, generous in your sensations, generous in your thoughts and even in material things; that is, you understand the faults of others, their intentions, weaknesses, even nasty movements. You see all this, and you are full of good feelings, of generosity. You tell yourself,…

What seems to me of more importance is to try to explain how things are worked out here. Indeed very few are the people who understand it and still fewer those who realise it.
There has never been, at any time, a mental plan, a fixed programme or an organisation decided beforehand. The whole thing has taken birth, grown and developed as a living being by a movement of consciousness (Chit-Tapas) constantly maintained, increased and fortified. As the conscious Force descends in matter and radiate…

''The world-ways opened before Savitri.
At first a strangeness of new brilliant scenes
Peopled her mind and kept her body's gaze.
But as she moved across the changing earth
A deeper consciousness welled up in her:
A citizen of many scenes and climes,
Each soil and country it had made its home;
It took all clans and peoples for her own,
Till
the whole destiny of mankind was hers. ''

The Mother, Mira Alfassa, walked into the New Body on the 17th day of November 1973. She left Her physical body and walked and entered into the then newly formed Supramental Body. The World knew and told that She has passed away.
It is said that The Mother withdrew Herself on the 17th day of November in 1973. However, we will see that in reality, in the highest meaning and sense of the term ‘reality’, The Mother continues eternally — in a NEW BODY.
She wanted to walk into Her new supramental bo…

''It's
one of the most indispensable things to do if one wants to
succeed in having self-control and even a limited
self-knowledge: to
be able to localise one's consciousness and
move it about in the different parts of one's being, in such a way as to
distinguish between one's consciousness and one's thought, feelings, impulses, become
aware of what the consciousness is in itself. And in this way
one can learn how to shift it: one can

Sri Aurobindo on Tagore
Tagore has been a wayfarer towards the same goal as ours in his own way—that is the main thing, the exact stage of advance and putting of the steps are minor matters. His exact position as a poet or a prophet or anything else will be assigned by posterity and we need not be in haste to anticipate the final verdict. The immediate verdict after his departure or soon after it may very well be a rough one,—for this is a generation that seems to take a delight in trampling wi…

"Alone he moved watched by the infinity
Around him and the Unknowable above.
All could be seen that shuns the mortal eye,
All could be known the mind has never grasped;
All could be done no mortal will can dare.
A limitless movement filled a limitless peace.
In a profound existence beyond earth's…

By this time there must have been numbers of blogs written on the fatwa issued by one Islamic organization in India, expressing the anger, disagreement, discontent over the fatwa. This present article is certainly not an effort to be one among them. This is also not just another attempt to condemn the Islamic community for their different views. Being a devotee of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo, I have learned by this time that I should not separate any section of Life, be it a stone or a person,…

Sometimes, when one feels impatient on the path of spiritual realisation, it is worth noting the 3 factors pointed out by the Mother: 1. time-scale, 2.understanding of failures, 3. effort and circumstance. These are Her words:
''From the point of view of spiritual realisation, time has no concrete reality;
all depends on the sincerity and intensity of the aspiration, on the steadiness of the effort. Some can do in a few weeks and even days what takes years for others. Moreover,
as the…

NAMASTE, ALL.
(Posted again on 1-11-2009)

All-inclusiveness cannot accommodate any kind of isolation by nature and definition. And yet the human mind is capable of that. Let me clarify. One asserts that one's guru is everything. And grace is sought from that guru (only!) who is everything. But…

''Faith does not depend upon experience; it is something that is there before experience. When one starts the yoga, it is not usually on the strength of experience, but on the strength of faith.
It is so not only in yoga and the spiritual life, but in ordinary life also. All men of action, discoverers, inventors, creators of knowledge proceed by faith and, until the proof is made or the thing done, they go on in spite of disappointment, failure, disproof, denial because of something in…
