I like particularly 'become as vast as the world, and you will always be at rest'. Especially, when maybe one is stuck in traffic, or on the way home after a day's work, even in an urban environment, just getting a glimpse of the sky, or image of ...

Thank you for this wonderful post, Kalpana. I recall Her mentioning about recreation along with rest. How we tend to sink deeper and deeper in our quest for recreation, which includes some of the stupidest things one can stoop to do. This recreati...

A very true words. When I realize all that, I think there is nothing to be done with humanity. I think that evolution still take many millions of years to move us to another level of consciousness. Fortunately (as the text says), there are those...

We have been devotees of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo for four generations and we try, as far as possible to go by their teachings. I, on my part have a long, long way to go. Maybe this lifetiem will not be enough for me to be a true devotee. The ...

Please tell us something about yourself.
I am on a mission to bring conscious living mainstream through the medium of communication. Being a mass communication specialist I aim to project as many peace efforts being carried out successfully, primarily through my website group Copperstrings and its associated wiki called Copperwiki

A collaboration of hearts

CopperStrings is a collaboration of hearts. It is an attempt to build a cross-cultural, cross-regional, cross-racial, multi-skilled organization for highly collaborative and collective work; involving those who have a lot to share but can't; for discovering the treasures hidden below layers of our routines, habits, unquestioned conventions, judgments, fears or apathy. This started the process of building an 'editable' organization which subscribes to the wiki philosophy of an 'anyone can edit/contribute' where good people, with good intent and good work build extremely useful resources for all to share.

Conscious living: Fortunately there are some who do the work for all the others

Academic education teaches us little about how to develop our conscious minds. We don’t learn in schools and colleges how to make decisions of our lives, how to cultivate a burning desire for what we want, how to know if our beliefs are inaccurate and need to be changed, how to concentrate, etc.

I found this interesting description of unconscious beings in the Questions an Answers 1955 Vol. VII of the Mother, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, India.

“….they come into life, they don’t know why… Continue

‘All wealth belongs to the Divine and those who hold it are trustees, not possessors.’

One relationship is dominating world consciousness today. Our relationship with money. And a whole lot of us are facing the prospect of a break-up in this relationship. Is there an inherent flaw in the relationship which we are not able to see?

The seekers or keepers of wealth are more often possessed rather than its possessors,” Sri Aurobindo wrote in ‘The Mother.’ In a section on money he points out what should be our true relation with this universal force called money: “All wealtContinue

Mahakali: Height, Force and Strength are Her peculiar Powers

Mahakali is another aspect of the Divine Mother. In his Essays, The Mother, Sri Aurobindo writes that her peculiar Powers are "not of wideness but of height, not wisdom but force."

"There is in her an overwhelming intensity, a mighty passion of force to achieve, a divine violence rushing to shatter every limit and obstacle.

"All her divinity leaps out in a splendour of tempestuous action; she is therefore swiftness, for the immediately effective process, the rapid and direct stroke, the fronta… Continue

Mahalakshmi: The aspect of the Mother we all turn to with joy and longing

The Divine Mother plays a prominent role in Eastern religions, especially Hinduism. In his essay, The Mother, Sri Aurobindo says “the Mother is one but she comes before us with differing aspects.” There are four major aspects of the Mother Divine. Maheshwari, Mahakali, Mahasaraswati, and Mahalakshmi.

These different aspects of the transcendental Mother have different qualities and perform different functions.

In this blog I reproduce the section on the power of MahalakshmiContinue
