ASPIRATION

Aspiration is a call to the Divine. — The Mother

How we ought to understand "privacy" in a Supramental World?

It is clear that we do not know about the divine world through direct experience...but we know the vision that Sri Aurobindo and Mother have left us about it.

Would have any sense the term "privacy" in a World like that?

The need for exclusion, separation, privacy would seem to be be a characteristic of duality-consciousness [I/not I] of humanity as it is .
From reading Sri Aurobindo on Gnostic beings and Supramanental beings, it would not be an amorphous oneness/sameness - individuality would operate in a complementary rather than conflicted way...perhaps like being fingers of the same hand? Perhaps a clumsy metaphor, compared with the most elegant vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, which comes to life in one's heart as a great hope for our future and how we will relate to each other when we reach that stage of evolution.

''All beings would be to him his own selves, all ways and powers of consciousness would be felt as the ways and powers of his own universality. But in that inclusive universality there would be no bondage to inferior forces, no deflection from his own highest truth: for this truth would envelop all truth of things and keep each in its own place, in a relation of diversified harmony, - it would not admit any confusion, clash, infringing of boundaries, any distortion of the different harmonies that constitute the total harmony. His own life and the world life would be to him like a perfect work of art; it would be as if the creation of a cosmic and spontaneous genius infallible in its working out of a multitudinous order. The gnostic individual would be in the world and of the world, but would also exceed it in his consciousness and live in his self of transcendence above it; he would be universal but free in the universe, individual but not limited by a separative individuality. The True Person is not an isolated entity, his individuality is universal; for he individualizes the universe: it is at the same time divinely emergent in a spiritual air of transcendental infinity, like a high cloud-surpassing summit; for he individualizes the divine Transcendence.''

The Supramental World is Sunlit world. For one who has risen in Consciousness to the Supramental, nothing is hidden, so there is no privacy, though individuality is certainly there, for that is an aspect of the Divine. Definitely, there will several individuals in the Supramental World, but they will not be merged together. And that would be a perfectly collective world, maintaining individuality.

But those who will continue to be in the ordinary human consciousness, the movements in the Supramental World will remain unknown and untouched.

Hmm... I have to admit the idea of having no privacy is a bit scary. I just saw the "remake" of the mini-series "The Prisoner" with Ian McKellan, which addresses this seemingly simply issue. It's a little creepy, but quite interesting. You have to wonder sometimes how the government sees us--looking at the mini-series, it was so interesting, thinking about the concepts of the God/Goddess figures, thinking about perfection, security, privacy, the world, etc. If you haven't seen it, I really recommend finding a way to get ahold of it, whether online or what have you. It puts a new light, a new spin on everything one holds dear!

Having no privacy from the Divine does not mean we cannot deal with life and people. For God you have no secrets. But that does not mean that you don't have reason to excercise common sense and wisdom in relation to dealing with others.

In the highly evolved state of consciousness that Sri Aurobindo and the Mother envision, there would be no question of fear, force or invasion of privacy, beacuse human beings would have evolved way from 'fear-based' living. Obviously this type of evolution is not going to happen overnight, as we just love to hug our fears and divisions! [still ape-like]. Perhaps to make it more understandable, if we just look at the lives of those who inspire us, we can see that the openness of heart and sincerity that such people demonstrate has a powerful impact. I am thinking of contemporay examples, like Nelson Mandela, Gandhi and many others. In fact Sri Aurobindo in jail had such profound 'opening experiences' that it shook up the most powerful oppressors. It is a truimph of true love over fear, based on Wisdom.

In the Supramrntal World, there is no need of privacy, and no possibility of privacy. Privacy presupposes ignorance, fear, threatening and limitation. In order to have our own security and to maintain our own mental and egoistic limits, we have privacy. And sometimes, we need to hide our weaknesse and shortcomings or our personal activities, and then we go under the cover of privacy. Privacy is possible, as we have some ignorance — and our consciousness is blocked by senses and limited understandings.

But when we will develop the suramental consciousness in us, when the Mind of Light will function in us, wecan go beyond the question of privacy. But as long as we will be dealing with the mental world, the need of commonsense and privacy will be there.

In a community of fully grown gnostic beings, the supramental beings, there will NOT be any need of privacy.
